Tóm tắt
Despite the growing adoption of online learning platforms in Vietnam, there
remains a gap in evaluating their practical impact on young learners’ English
speaking skills. This study addresses this issue by examining the effects of the
Edupia Tutor program—an online learning model—on improving the English
speaking skills of 5th-grade students in Vietnam. Given the need to not only assess
outcomes but also improve teaching practices in real-time, an action research
approach was adopted. This approach was deemed appropriate as it allowed the
researcher, also acting as the teacher, to implement, observe, and refine
instructional interventions based on continuous feedback within the actual
teaching context. The study employed a combination of pretests, posttests,
questionnaires, and interviews to collect both quantitative and qualitative data.
Pretests and posttests measured changes in students’ linguistic accuracy, fluency,
and speaking confidence. Meanwhile, online questionnaires and interviews
captured students’ experiences and perceptions of the Edupia Tutor program. The
results revealed that the Edupia Tutor program significantly enhanced students’
speaking skills, especially in terms of fluency and confidence. These findings
contribute to the existing literature and offer practical insights for educators and
researchers interested in the integration of technology in language education.
